It’s not just any old year for golf, 2022 marks the milestone 150th Open Championship which will be held at the Home of Golf, the Old Course in St Andrews from 10 – 17 July. They’re expecting record crowds as the world’s greatest players compete to try and win the coveted Claret Jug.
Here at Crieff Hydro, we turned 150 back in 2018 which makes us 3 (almost 4) years older than the Open and while we didn’t always have a golf offering, we most certainly do now. We even recently started sponsoring Scots golfer, Gabrielle Macdonald as she embarks on a busy schedule of tournaments across the globe this year.
If you’re a golf fan looking to escape for a few holes while visiting us, look no further. Right on our resort we have a 9 hole, par 3 family-friendly course. It’s the perfect spot to work on your short game and with views this good, you can definitely add distraction to your list of excuses for scoring that double bogey. You can hire clubs and balls, and there’s no need to book… just turn up and give it your best shot.
If you’re more of a seasoned golfer and looking for something a little more challenging, Crieff Golf Club is right on our doorstep (it’s actually less than 500m away from the main reception). Surrounded by spectacular countryside, head down for a visit to make the most of your Perthshire escape, and if you’re staying with us, you get 20% off your round. The club boasts two courses, the Ferntower which has 18 holes and the Dornock which has 9.
If the weather isn't on your side, we also have a state-of-the-art VR golf simulator in The Bunker. Practice your swing around the world from Pebble Beach to The Old Course, all from the comfort of our ultimate private hire game zone for families, friends and groups.
Or, if you’re staying with us down in the Borders at Peebles Hydro or The Park, our guests can pick up a reduced green fee at Peebles Golf Club (£35.00 midweek – usually £45; £45 weekend – usually £55).
So, if you fancy yourself a pro or if you’re just getting started, come and continue your golf journey with us. Who knows, you could be the next Open champion.
